The Evian Championship
The Evian Championship, currently known for sponsorship reasons as The Amundi Evian Championship, is a women's professional golf tournament in France, played at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains. It was originally held in June, moved to July in 2003, and moved again to September in 2013. It returned to a July date in 2019. Founded in 1994 on the Ladies European Tour (LET) as the Evian Masters, it is one of two major championships on the LET. Not originally a major on the LPGA Tour, it became an LPGA co-sanctioned event in 2000, which included a significant increase in purse size. The purse was increased from $4.1 million to $4.5 million effective with the 2021 event. The 2022 event saw an increase in the purse to $6.5 million, with the winner earning $1 million. The 2023 Evian Championship was played 27–30 July at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 30th Evian Championship (the first 20 played as the Evian Masters), and the tenth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. The 2022 Evian Championship was played 21–24 July at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, France. It was the 29th Evian Championship (the first 20 played as the Evian Masters), and the tenth as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. The event was televised by Golf Channel in the United States and Sky Sports in the United Kingdom. Brooke Henderson won with a score of 267, 17-under-par, a stroke ahead of Sophia Schubert. Sophia Marie Schubert (born January 31, 1996) is an American professional golfer. Education Schubert majored in Sport management at the University of Texas. Amateur career Schubert won the 2017 U.S. Women's Amateur, defeating the number-3 ranked amateur player in the world and former Olympian, Albane Valenzuela, in the final.
